During his recent media chat, Pres. Jonathan was asked to explain the following statement that he made in 2014; “What many Nigerians refer to as corruption is actually stealing. Stealing is not the same thing as corruption.”

I have keenly written about the prejudices, intimidation and marginalisation etc. meted out to Ndigbo since the Biafra war ended. In fact, the manners in which Federal troops massacred Ndigbo during war was similar to the extermination of the Jews (Holocaust).

Today is Easter Sunday, the day Christians all over the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And so, we wish our friends and readers all over the world who believe in this festive; a Happy Easter celebration.

African traditions are intertwined. And so, it is common for Africans all over the world to behave alike. In London for instance, an elderly African, be he a black Caribbean or an American, would expect a younger black African to greet him at first sight.

Ass is an informal English name for a Donkey. In England, a Donkey is perceived as a foolish animal. Thus, when someone/something is referred to as an Ass, it simply means that the person/thing is stupid. In Oliver Twist, 1838, according to Charles Dickens, Mr. Bumble whose wife is domineering was unhappy when he was told in court that "...the law supposes that your wife acts under your direction". “If the law supposes that,” said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, “the law is a ass–a idiot.” The rigid application of the law is what makes the law an Ass. And not because there's a miscarriage of justice. The renowned Lord Deninning emphasized that when he said "The law is the law even when the law is an Ass."

According to Jewish mythology, Elijah would come to restore things before the coming of the Messiah. And so, Jewish people have remained vigilant for the signs of the coming of their Messiah.
