Alcohol + Redbull Energy Drink = System Crash
A Genius seldom sleeps because his brain is constantly active. He seeks some form of tranquilisers to enable him to have a nap. Most times he ends up with a bottle of whisky, Gin etc.
Alcohol gives the same effect as with a sleeping tablet. It slows down one’s brain activities, which sends signal to the heart to pump less blood to the brain.
When the brain relaxes, the person is put in a sleep mode, and thereafter, sleeps off.
On the other hand, if you are not such a genius you will always have your regular sleep mode. However, if there is a need to stay awake beyond your regular sleep mode, you will need an enhancement.
What usually comes to hand is a strong caffeinated drink such as coffee or Redbull energy drink, etc. Redbull increases the brain’s activities which will signal the heart to pump more blood to the brain.
In other words, the more blood the heart pumps to the brain the more active the brain will become and the less sleep you will have, and vice versa.
Few months ago, at Umuahia, Abia state Nigeria, I visited a Pub/Bar with a friend. I saw some ‘big-men’ mixing their Red label Whisky with Redbull energy drink. I was really surprised at the level of unawareness these people displayed.
The implication of drinking the concoction (Whisky & Redbull) is the conflicting signal each of them sends to the brain, and subsequently to the heart.
While the Whisky/alcohol will be trying to reduce the brain’s activities by signalling the heart to pump less blood, the Redbull will be trying to increase the brain’s activities by signalling the heart to pump more blood.
What do you think will happen to both the brain and the heart?
Let’s look at it from this perspective – if you feed your computer conflicting information, the system will ‘hang’, if care is not taken the system will crash. That is exactly what will happen to your brain and heart. They will crash.
In the confusion of not knowing whether to pump more blood as requested by the Redbull or less blood as demanded by the Whisky/alcohol, there may be a change in the Heart rhythm that will lead to a Cardiac Arrest, and death.
On the contrary, if the heart reads the conflicting messages to mean that the brain needs more blood when in fact the arteries are in sleep mode, the increased blood pressure will burst an artery causing localised bleeding in the surrounding area.
This is known as brain haemorrhage, which is a type of stroke. It can also lead to death.
“My people perish for lack of knowledge” - Hosea 4:6. When that death comes, a ‘man of god’ will see in the spiritual REM a certain man in the village as the cause of the death. Nobody will remember Whisky + Redbull Energy Drink.
